Meat Pathways is led by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) with the assistance of many partners, including the Wisconsin Association of Meat Processors, Wisconsin Technical College System, University of Wisconsin System, and Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
In January 2022, Governor Evers announced up to $5 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding for meat talent development programming. This funding attracts students to meat careers, provides financial support to students in Wisconsin meat processing training programs, supports program development, and connects the meat processing industry with potential employees.
DATCP is working cooperatively with stakeholders and the industry to implement a program that strengthens Wisconsin's meat processing supply chain and workforce.
